Haikou Meilan International Airport
Haikou Meilan International Airport, the largest airport in Hainan province, is located 20 kilometers southeast of Haikou. In 2012, it was named as the second best regional airport in China and fourth best regional airport in Asia by Skytrax.
The airport opened in 1999, replacing the old Dayingshan Airport. The airport currently features two terminals, including terminal one and the newly opened international terminal.
It was built as part of a 230 million ($37.5 million) project including the expansion of the apron and the domestic terminal. Currently, the expanded apron at the airport can accommodate ten aircrafts.
The new international terminal is located on the east side of terminal one. Its construction started in April 2011. It covers an area of 13,200 square meters.
The new terminal at the airport will be 28,000 sq m. The total investment on the terminal and other support facilities will be 850 million yuan ($138.89 million).
The new terminal two that is currently under construction will be located opposite of terminal one. It is expected to open by 2020 and will be designed to provide high functional and aeronautical quality at the airport.
The airport features a green environment and sustainable features in its buildings. It is also touted as China’s first ecological garden airport.
It is one of the first airports in China to be awarded with the China Green Benefit Enterprise-Best Practice Award at the 6th United Nations World Economic and Environment Conference in 2013.
The new terminal building is connected to the East High-speed Meilan Station, providing easy rail transport services for passengers.

Sanya Phoenix International Airport
Located 11 kilometers northwest of downtown Sanya City, Sanya Phoenix International Airport is 5 kilometers from the famous tourism site, The End of the Earth (Tianya Haijiao).
Open to public since July 1, 1994, its 4E standard flight area has a runway as well as a parking area for 66 large and medium sized airplanes. By 2016, it host 130 domestic air routes, 2 regional air routes and 16 international air routes, all operating from the airport. Passengers can fly to 85 domestic and international cities from the airport.
Passengers can store their luggage at the Inquiry Center on the 2nd Level of the Terminal Building, the service charges either by the day or by the hour.
The lost and found counter is located on the 2nd Level of the Terminal Building at the Inquiry Center.
The special service is offered to special passengers, including unaccompanied passengers (children and the elders) and passengers in wheel chairs. People must ask for the service at the time of booking tickets. Besides, passengers on stretchers will also need to contact the airport urgent-care center.
The parking area is located in front of the terminal building. The fare is 5 yuan for compact cars, 10 yuan for medium-sized cars and 15 yuan for large cars.
