The public gathering was jointly arranged by the Publicity Department of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and the Hainan branch of China Post Group Co to mark the 30th anniversary of Hainan as a province and a provincial special economic zone.
A series of "Beautiful Hainan" postcards featuring spectacular views of Hainan and its social and economic achievements made in the past 30 years were presented at the meeting and eagerly purchased by postcard lovers.

This is the first time China Post has issued Hainan-themed special postage and ordinary postage postcards, said an official with the Hainan branch of the company under China Post.
"Hainan is beautiful and the postcards are beautiful. I bought a dozen of them and will send some to friends with my greetings from Hainan," said a visitor surnamed Wang, who is on a week-long tour on the tropical island.

An organizer said that people in Hainan were encouraged to send their greetings through the post cards to their relatives and friends at home and abroad to promote the new and beautiful image of Hainan.
An exhibition of Hainan theme stamps was also arranged as a celebration of Hainan's 30th anniversary.
