Hainan Pearl River Travel Service has announced plans to open three new direct air routes between Russian cities and Haikou, local media reported on Oct 1.

The route from Samara will be launched on Oct 12 while two others, from Kazan and Ufa, will begin operations on Oct 15 and 17 respectively.

The new routes are the result of negotiations between the chairman and general manager of Hainan Pearl River Travel Service and their Russian partner.

An agreement was finally reached at their fourth meeting, stating that three companies (IrAero, Ikar Airlines, and Aloha Airlines) will fly a total of 41 trips including the twice weekly Moscow - Haikou flight, transporting nearly 8,000 Russian tourists to Hainan.

The enterprise has opened seven direct routes since April, receiving excellent responses and unanimous praise from guests.

From November there will be 52 flights from 12 Russian cities to Hainan directly, bringing more than 12,000 Russian tourists to the island.
