Hainan's Puqian Bridge, the largest sea-crossing bridge engineered in the island province to date, is nearing completion, with the main bridge expected to be finished this month and the entirety of the project potentially open to traffic by the end of the year.

The bridge will connect Haikou with Wenchang and shorten the time between Haikou and Puqian from 1.5 hours to 20 minutes.

With a total investment of about 3.02 billion yuan ($436.5 million), construction initially began in 2015. The ground operation of the bridge is now almost finished and workers are currently busy installing bridge girders.
