The Hainan Provincial People's Government will cooperate with Baidu, the domestic internet giant, to build the Baidu Hainan Eco-village. The move is part of attempts to promote Hainan's industrial development, including Baidu's smart driving cars.
The strategic cooperation signing ceremony was held at the Hainan Resort Software Community in Chengmai county on Oct 18.
Relying on Baidu's eco-system, the Baidu Hainan Eco-village will integrate resources from Baidu Inc, Baidu Union, Baidu-CKGSB Academy and their partners, and will be planned and built by the Hainan Resort Software Community. In addition, Baidu has officially released the XuperChain system, and announced its subsidiary, Dulian, will settle in Hainan.
The Hainan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Baidu Inc, and the Hainan Resort Software Community will also jointly build the Hainan Baidu Blockchain Laboratory and launch the Standard Committee of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Free Trade Port Blockchain Pilot Zone with Chinese Characteristics.
The cooperation is an important result of the province's efforts in attracting investment and building a headquarters economy. Hainan has now attracted all three domestic internet magnates, Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent, to its shores.
