Hainan to welcome first two pandas next month

The Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden will bring in two male pandas on Nov 10 for the upcoming animal carnival themed activities from Nov 24 to 30.

The park's Panda World will open to the public after about two weeks thatallows the pandas to adapt to their new environment.

A series of activities will be held during the carnival, including an opening ceremony for Panda World, a panda image ambassador selection, a panda welcoming show and their online debut.

The two pandas, named Gong Gong and Shun Shun, were born at the Wolong Panda Base in Sichuan province. The park will carry out a naming activity after they arrive in Hainan. All local residents are invited to give them names in the local Hainan dialect.
