Hainan province launched China's first reform and opening-up database (http://www.reformdata.org) in Haikou on Dec 18 to celebrate the country's 40th anniversary of the national policy.

The database was guided by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and developed by the China Institute for Reform and Development.

It includes 10 billion words, over 8,000 chronological events, over 1,000 specials, and interviews from nearly 300 witnesses of the past 40 years.

As the first online database presenting the course of China's 40 years of reform and opening-up, it strives to objectively reflect the progress during the period and creatively apply big data and cloud computing on the website.

Meanwhile, 21 themed books in six series were also published on the same day as gifts for the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up.
