Hainan Intl Film Festival to open submissions registration

The 2nd Hainan International Film Festival will be held in Sanya in December.

It will establish the "Golden Coconut Award" for the first time, and the competition's registration channel will be open to the world on June 1.

The annual award aims to enhance the brand competitiveness of the film festival according to the organizing committee. More excellent works and filmmakers are expected to be discovered and appreciated by the audience through the platform.

The festival will arrange 10 awards covering best film, director, actor, actress, sceenwriter, and technology in the categories of feature films, documentaries, and short feature films. This year's award has a generous bonus to show respect and encouragement to the participating filmmakers.

In addition, the Hainan International Film Festival will select and invite a number of outstanding films of different styles to participate in the competition through a jury committee composed of domestic and foreign film professionals.

The 1st Hainan International Film Festival started on Dec 9 last year. It has adopted a new model that incorporates people, regions and industrial chains in order to build a platform that facilitates exchanges, cooperation and trade among international film markets that can make the most of the preferential policies of the pilot free trade zone.

Many renowned figures in the film industry from home and abroad attended the festival, making it feel more professional and giving it more exposure. The festival is aimed at making the Chinese film market, the second largest in the world, more open and competitive.
