The 20th Hainan Island Carnival will offer a lavish array of entertainment for local residents and visitors starting on Nov 22. It features 14 main events like the opening ceremony, as well as activities held at the main venue in Haikou and sub-venues in the Hainan cities of Sanya, Danzhou, Wanning, and Lingshui.
During a press conference on Oct 29, Cao Yuanxin, deputy head of the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, gave a detailed introduction on the preparation for the event.
According to the conference, the carnival will aim to enhance the integration of culture and tourism, improve Hainan's global exposure, as well as attract more people to participate and polish its brand. The island province seeks to build the event into an entertainment festival for Hainan residents and visitors, as well as a communication platform in its culture and tourism sector, thereby aiding the island's construction of an international tourism consumption center.

The main venue city Haikou will stage the 2019 Hainan Strawberry Music Festival from Nov 23 to 24, a concert by Priscilla Chan Wai-han on Nov 23, and the New Year concert on Dec 31.
To cultivate new hot spots for tourism consumption and promote the upgrading of tourism consumption, the resources of tourism attractions, rural tourism sites, and duty-free shops across Hainan will be integrated to benefit tourists and local residents.
A tourism guidebook with more details on the carnival will also be published and given away to people before the events.
The 18th Hainan International Tourism Island Carnival closed recently in south China's Hainan Province.
