The organizing committee for the Second Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) recently launched a video competition and is calling for works from the public that are created under the theme of the film festival. The top winner will be granted 10,000 yuan ($1,421.50).
Submission topics can range from applicant's stories with HIIFF, insights on the shortlisted films of the festival, videos of the event, as well as looks at the food and scenery of Hainan.
Videos can be submitted through mp.toutiao.com and the title of submitted works should include keywords such as "海南岛国际电影节" (HIIFF) or the names of the shortlisted films for the Golden Coconut Award.
The submitted videos are eligible for prizes according to their view counts, with one top prize winner receiving 10,000 yuan, four first prize winners receiving 5,000 yuan, and 11 second prize winners receiving 2,000 yuan each.
Submissions are due on Dec 21 with winners of the competition announced from Dec 24 to 27.
