The city of Qionghai has been striving to resume construction on the Cai Clan Residence Culture and Tourism Zone project, one of the key projects for the 2020 Baoao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, which will be held from March 24-27.
"Although the novel coronavirus epidemic is severe, the project was resumed quickly thanks to the recruitment of workers organized by the Boao township government," said Zhong Yong, general manager of the project developer Bafang Liuke Tourism and Culture Development.
According to Zhong, the project has a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($140 million) and is one of the important projects of the Boao Forum for Asia in Qionghai. The project will be constructed in three phases, and the first phase of the project currently under construction includes ancient villages, a ferry wharf, riverside landscape belts, water tourism routes, and an exposition pavilion.
The local government has also guided the construction company to close the construction site to outside access, separated the travel routes of villagers and construction workers, as well as enhanced protection of construction workers.
To reduce the impact of the epidemic, Qionghai has bolstered efforts to ensure that the forum can be hosted smoothly in March. The relevant departments of the city have coordinated with project construction units regarding epidemic prevention and control measures, the supply of construction materials, as well as ways to solve the shortage of construction manpower.
