The two-story seagull-shaped building on the ground features a main hall, exhibition halls, halls for exhibitions and conferences, a conference center, a parking lot, as well as exhibition supporting facilities.
It will be connected to the first phase project to form an organic whole, which will become a multifunctional exhibition complex with high flexibility that is capable of hosting activities like exhibitions, meetings, banquets, and festivals.
In recent years, Hainan's conventions and exhibitions industry has developed rapidly, contributing greatly to the local economy with steady and continuous growth. However, due to the limited size of the province's venues, many large-scale exhibition projects cannot be implemented on the island.
"Hainan currently lacks large-scale indoor exhibition venues, so it is impossible to host large-scale and ultra-large-scale exhibitions," said Geng Songtao, an exhibitions industry expert and a professor at the School of Tourism of Hainan University.
It is for this reason that the construction of the second phase of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center has become so important, added Geng.
With this new project, Hainan will be able to attract and host large conventions and exhibitions. This project will then gradually play a role in promoting the development of its conventions and exhibitions industry, Geng said.
