China's Southernmost province continues earning its keep as an investment and free trade haven. Hainan Island's free trade port has 100 new projects under construction.
It could be the jolt China's economy needs after a difficult first quarter. 100 new construction projects within Hainan province's free trade port are set to get underway.
The total investment: 48.9 billion yuan ($6.9 billion). That covers nearly everything from projects like the China Datang International Trade Center, to high-quality projects like big data industrial clusters and the Mai Wan Water Conservancy Project.
"Our corporation has arranged clean energy development projects in Hainan, powered by gas resources. Also, we will build an innovation base for clean energy development, which includes strong support for international trade expansion, and an important base for training talent," Liu Guangying, deputy manager of China Datang Corporation.
"The construction of the Maiwan water conservancy project plays a very important supporting role in water supply, irrigation, and flood prevention in northern Hainan, especially in the ecological construction of Jiangdong New Area. It will also boost our current economy to recover from the epidemic. The project is of great significance," said Li Xiaogang, general manager of Hainan Development Holding Co., Ltd.
In the past two years, 893 projects have been based in Hainan, with a total investment of 484.1 billion yuan.
The commencement and signing of these projects will effectively promote the economic and social development of Hainan, and further the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Port.
