New shipping route helps Yangpu build regional container hub

A container ship from Jinzhou, Liaoning province recently arrived at the Xiaochantan Terminal in Yangpu Economic Development Zone, in which 504 containers were unloaded, including 16 foreign trade containers. 

The ship's arrival marked the opening of the new Jinzhou-Hainan route that features domestic and foreign trade on the same vessels. The route will enrich the trade routes from Yangpu Port to ASEAN countries, as well as facilitate the construction of the Yangpu Regional International Container Hub. 

Shipping domestic and foreign trade goods on the same vessel is a new policy endowed by the State to Yangpu Port. According to the master plan for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, domestic vessels engaged in domestic and foreign trade cargo transportation, which use Yangpu Port as a transit port, are allowed to refill the bonded oil required for their voyage. An export tax rebate policy will be implemented for domestic ships filling up with the locally produced fuel for their voyages.

The special shipping model has the characteristics of space sharing, flexible loading and unloading along the way, fast transfer, as well as efficient operation at the terminal. It will further increase the barge transportation space utilization rate, reduce the transfer time, and increase the ship operating efficiency by more than 20 percent.

The opening of this route has strengthened the confidence and determination of Yangpu to plan more domestic and foreign trading routes. It has also played an important role in helping goods in Northeast China enter the ASEAN market through Yangpu, as well as helped Yangpu attract global sources of goods by relying on its highly free and convenient open transportation policy.
