Movie theaters in Hainan province can resume operation starting from July 22 under the premise of thorough COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control work, according to an announcement made by the Hainan Provincial Film Bureau on July 21.
On July 16, the China Film Administration announced that movie theaters in low-risk areas are allowed to resume operation starting on July 20 following an improvement in the COVID-19 epidemic situation.
However, before going to the movies in Hainan, attendees should be aware of the following.
1. People without a mask on or who have a temperature are not allowed to enter movie theatres in Hainan.
2. Tickets are only sold through online channels with real-name appointments.
3. Audience members should maintain one-meter social distancing from each other and the attendance rate for each movie should be no more than 30 percent of the theater's capacity.
4. Audience members should have their masks on throughout the movie and no drinking or eating is allowed at the movie theatre.
5. Daily screenings should be reduced to half the number of regular days and the total time for each movie should be no more than two hours.
6. Thorough cleaning and disinfection should be carried out and screenings should be arranged in a way to avoid the large gathering of audiences.
7. Key areas, such as the automatic ticket machines, the vendor booth, seats for the public, and toilets, should be disinfected five times a day.
8. 3D goggles and articles that audience have direct and close contact with should be disinfected after use.
