The number of high-tech enterprises in Sanya, Hainan province reached 37, which is two times larger than that of 2018, according to a conference held on Aug 5 to brief high-tech companies about Sanya's preferential policies.
The conference attracted more than 10 enterprises, universities, and scientific research institutions across the city.
The high-tech industry is one of the three leading industries in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Sanya has been promoting the construction and application of new infrastructure, as well as accelerating the development of 5G application projects, smart cities, and smart industries. The city has also improved innovative industries, such as deep-sea technologies, scientific breeding, and satellite remote sensing. It has also been seeking to boost information infrastructure construction concerning data centers, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and satellite internet.
At the end of 2018, there were 19 high-tech enterprises in Sanya. To cultivate high-tech enterprises, the city formulated special measures to encourage high-tech enterprises that promote the transformation and implementation of new technological achievements, as well as drive the development of the industrial chain. These measures include research and development subsidies and a one-off reward worth 100,000 yuan ($14,360) to 500,000 yuan ($71,810) to those identified as high-tech enterprises.
