The T2 terminal of the Haikou Meilan International Airport, also known as the phase II project of the airport, was completed and approved on Aug 26.

The new terminal covers an area of 300,000 square meters, 550 meters far from the existing T1 terminal. It is mainly composed of five parts: the main central building, the southwest corridor, the northwest corridor, the southeast corridor, and the northeast corridor. 

There are five check-in islands with 110 check-in counters (88 for domestic flights and 22 for international flights), 32 domestic security check channels, and 12 international security check channels. 

The total commercial area is about 33,000 square meters, of which the tax-free commercial area is 10,600 square meters. It will be the largest airport duty-free commercial zone.
