Hainan FTP opens first intercontinental air cargo route

The Hainan Free Trade Port's first intercontinental air cargo route was officially launched after a Suparna Airlines plane successfully took off from Haikou Meilan International Airport on Nov 8.

The cargo flight Y87425 was fully loaded with 110 tons of goods and headed for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands. This intercontinental cargo route marks that Hainan has taken a first step in building an international air cargo network and hub for the Hainan FTP.

The flight departed from Nanjing, stopped over at Chongqing, and used Haikou as the departure and entry venues for intercontinental shipping. The outbound goods were mainly electronic products and general goods, while the return flight will bring 20 tons of goods, mainly consisting of auto parts and e-commerce products, which will be unloaded at Haikou for customs clearance and then transferred to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other places across the country.

The route will connect the Hainan FTP with Chongqing, Nanjing, and European cities. It will also enhance the role of the Hainan FTP as a comprehensive service hub in the international supply chain, as well as promote interconnection along the Belt and Road.

This flight enjoys low costs due to the FTP preferential policy on bonded fuel, as well as the free landing and taking off policy offered by Haikou Meilan International Airport, fully demonstrating the Hainan's FTP policies and local business environment advantages.
