The creation of the center has been recognized as one of the major results of relaxed rules for Contract Research Organizations (CRO), which are mentioned in a document on special measures aimed at further relaxing market access to Hainan Free Trade Port.
The establishment of the research center is expected to further improve local clinical research capabilities, promote the integration of Hainan's medical resources, boost scientific research cooperation, and attract more advanced innovation medicines and instruments to settle down in Lecheng, making more contributions to optimizing its industrial structures.
Gu Gang, director of the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, expressed his hope that the research center will accelerate the production and application of real-world evidence and speed up the clinical development of more high-quality medical products through real-world research projects.
Gu added that Lecheng will give full play to its advantages in being a national pioneer in licensed medicines and medical instruments in order to attract more advanced scientific groups to settle down in Lecheng.
Li Zhiping, an official from the Hainan Drug Administration, said that he hopes more measures can be taken in the future to promote the high-quality development of medicines, as well as of the medical instrument industry, in Hainan FTP.
