South China's Hainan Island welcomed its first 4A-level scenic area centering on "red culture" on June 29, following a plaque-unveiling ceremony for the Hainan Murui Mountain Red Culture Tourism Zone in Ding'an county.
The Murui Mountain Red Culture Tourism Zone is located in the southern part of Ding'an. The zone includes the Murui Mountain Revolutionary Base Memorial Park and more than 10 important Red Army sites.
In 2001, it was designated by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee as a national patriotic education demonstration base. In 2005, it was designated as one of the 100 classic red tourism scenic spots in the country.
In recent years, Ding'an has continuously increased the protection of the "red" resources of Murui Mountain, which is developing into a unique red tourism destination in Hainan.
