South China's Hainan province and the Jeju Special Autonomous Province in South Korea hosted a joint forum on green development on July 6, with government officials and representatives from research institutions and enterprises gathering to share ideas.
Won Hee-ryong, the Jeju governor, addressed the audience at the opening ceremony via video.
Wang Luxin, consul general of China in Jeju and Chi Fulin, director of the China (Hainan) Reform and Development Research Institute, were among the participants who joined the offline event in Haikou, which centered on the green economy and the sustainable development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and Jeju International Free City.
In his speech, Chi noted that the cooperation between Hainan and Jeju in green industry and green development is promising, and the two places can boost ties in six areas including building a Hainan-Jeju free tourism cooperation body, strengthening cooperation in the fields of marine ecology and environmental protection, and promoting cooperation in the field of public health.
Wang also spoke at the event, expressing a hope that Hainan and Jeju can strengthen cooperation in the future, exchange development experience, and jointly achieve economic growth and sustainable development at the same time.
