Three athletes from Hainan were selected for national teams and will compete at the 2020 Olympic Games which will be hosted in Tokyo, Japan from July 23 to Aug 8.
Bi Kun will compete in men's RS:X windsurfing, Yuan Yechun will compete in the men's individual golf event, and Gao Pan will compete in women's Taekwondo.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be the first time athletes will compete outside of windsurfing events in golf and Taekwondo. This marks a major breakthrough in Hainan's competitive sports development.
