In the first three quarters of this year, Hainan's total foreign trade value in goods increased by 60.4 percent year on year to 101.35 billion yuan ($15.86 million). The growth rate was 37.7 percentage points higher than that of the country.
Among the total foreign trade value, the export value was 24.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.5 percent; while the import value was 77.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 74.4 percent.
ASEAN and the European Union have become the top two trading partners with Hainan. In the first three quarters, Hainan had trade transactions with 179 countries or regions around the world, an increase of 18 over the same period last year. Among them, there are 16.99 billion yuan in trade transactions with ASEAN, accounting for 16.8 percent of the province's foreign trade value. The trade transaction between Hainan and the EU reached 15.94 billion yuan, and imports and exports with the United States were 7.64 billion yuan.
In the first three quarters, Hainan newly registered 5,831 foreign trade companies, a year-on-year increase of 128 percent. Among them, the import and export of private enterprises was 49.09 billion yuan, up 158.5 percent year on year.
The foreign trade value of the Yangpu Free Trade Port Zone was 23.42 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.3 times, and the foreign trade value of the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone was 19.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66.9 percent. The total contribution rate of the two places to the province's foreign trade value growth was as high as 80 percent.
