The 2021 Sanya Public Security Forum opened on Nov 14, inviting more than 50 experts and scholars from China, Russia, Britain, Australia, Israel, Singapore, Turkey, Pakistan, Kenya and other countries to discuss the international security situation and counter-terrorism situation in 2021, both online and onsite.
Jamie Williamson, director general of the International Code of Conduct for the Private Security Providers' Association (ICoCA), said in an online speech that worldwide security departments have been affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, and they must adapt to the ever-changing environment.
Williamson suggested that in order to build a more pragmatic security model, in addition to technological innovation, it is important to strengthen exchange and cooperation with stakeholders and expand security assurances.
He suggests that unified international security norms should be established so that all parties can reach a consensus to build a new international security environment.
Ye Hailin, deputy director-general of the National Institute of International Strategies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said in his speech that "Economic entities are now more concerned about security issues such as the stickiness of the industrial chain, the security of capital, and the stability of the intra-regional market." Ye suggested each party should not only be satisfied with providing economic public goods, but must also consider providing safe public goods.
The Sanya Public Security Forum was founded and constructed by the Hainan CGE Peace Development Foundation (CGE), and aims to provide an exchange and dialogue platform for worldwide government departments officials, scholars and experts, with a focus on public security, according to Feng Chuanjian, chairman of CGE.
