A new beauty center that offers boutique beauty items for sale opened on Saturday at the TIMESDF Haikou Mission Hills Duty Free Town, which is one of the nine duty-free shops in Hainan province that has attracted top brands from Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands to make their first debuts in Hainan along with other boutique brands such as Dior, La Mer, Estee Lauder and Lancome.
The beauty center offers a wide variety of products spanning colognes and perfumes, make-up, skin care, hair care and bath items.
The opening of the new center will further enrich the brands and various categories in the duty free town, and a provide better shopping experience for consumers, a TIMESDF employee said.
The TIMESDF Mission Hills Duty Free Town opened in February and offers about 500 international brands in a shopping area of 20,000 square meters.
More than 3.4 million shoppers visited duty-free centers on the tropical island province, spending 31.58 billion yuan ($4.95) on duty-free goods in 2020, according to Haikou Customs.
The sales volume of duty-free items is expected to hit 300 billion yuan in five years in Hainan as duty-free sales networks around Hainan island will expand to better meet the domestic needs for imported goods during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, according to the provincial government.
