The four-day 2021 China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair For Tropical Agricultural ended successfully on Dec 19, attracting over 154,100 visitors to the exhibition. The accumulated on-site transaction volume was 1.37 billion yuan ($215 million), of which the online transaction volume was 1.26 billion yuan and the offline transaction volume was 106.63 million yuan.
The exhibition set up a modern seed industry and digital agriculture exhibition area for the first time in an exhibition area of 6,500 square meters to showcase the developmental achievements of the seed industry and digital agriculture in Hainan. At the same time, the exhibition also created an innovative "online Winter Trade Fair" to provide exhibitors and purchasers with services such as "online exhibitions, online negotiations, online procurement and online signings."
The 2021 Shared Farm Conference was also held for the first time as a key event at the fair. A total of 33 projects were signed at the conference with a total amount of 7.41 billion yuan.
The event has attracted worldwide attention. Agriculture-related enterprises from over 20 countries including Italy, Sweden, India, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Thailand participated in this year's event. Over 20 domestic provinces, autonomous regions, and cities including Shanghai, Shandong province and Qinghai province hosted on-site exhibitions to promote local specialty products to merchants.
An official from the Hainan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that the event will effectively promote the comprehensive deepening of reform and opening up in Hainan and the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
