Hainan invests $1.57b to support FTP's major projects construction

From 2019 to 2021, Hainan has invested 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion) of its central budget to support the 66 major projects at the Hainan Free Trade Port, according to the Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Commission. 

To create a development engine, Hainan has invested over 6 billion yuan to enhance the core competitiveness of key industrial parks including the construction of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, the Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone, the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, and Wenchang International Space City.

It also arranged investment to support Yangpu's infrastructure construction, and promote the development of the aviation logistics industry in the Haikou Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

In order to balance economic development and peoples' livelihoods, Hainan province has allocated nearly 3.4 billion yuan to support the safe guarantee of projects.

The province has supported the construction of risk prevention and control facilities in the fields of trade, investment, and public health. It supported the construction of capacity improvement projects for primary medical and health institutions based on 5G and Internet of Things technologies in order to promote the standardization and informatization of medical institutions, and improve the ability to respond to major epidemics and public health emergencies.

In order to protect the ecological environment, Hainan has carried out ecological restoration in Ledong Mine, Sanya River Wetland, and Sun River.

Hainan has also supported the construction of a biomedicine and health research center, a national key laboratory of tropical crops, and teaching and living facilities at Hainan University.

Meanwhile, the island province is developing the Haikou Xinhai Ro-Ro Terminal Passenger Transport Integrated Hub Station project, which will help the Qiongzhou Strait's shipping resources achieve basically integrated development.
