On April 23, the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China held a press conference in Haikou announcing that the 8th CPC Hainan Provincial Congress will be held in Haikou from April 25 to 29.
The congress will summarize Hainan's work achievements since the 7th CPC Hainan Provincial Congress in 2017, as well as determine the overall requirements, goals, and key tasks of the province's development in the next five years. In addition, a new leadership team of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee will be elected.
To date, all preparations for the congress have been completed. The draft report of the 8th Hainan Provincial Party Congress has been completed after more than four months of drafting, with opinions and suggestions from departments at all levels being solicited.

To date, 24 electoral units in the province have elected 405 delegates to attend the congress that represent a wide variety of fields, including economy, science and technology, national defense, politics, law, education, culture, health, as well as sports. The delegates include government officials at the provincial, city, county, township, village, and community level, as well as representatives of agencies, enterprises, institutions, and organizations.
The congress venues are located in Hainan Square and the new campus of the Party School of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee. During the congress, five live-streams will be held, while there will also be three reporters' centralized interview activities and a press conference for the leadership team of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee.
