On July 18, the Hainan Provincial Health Commission issued a notice to designate Haikou Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital as 3A-grade maternal and child health care hospitals.
The 3A-grade is the highest level in the rating evaluation of China's maternal and child health care hospitals. Upon receiving the 3A-grade rating, the hospitals are expected to meet the medical needs of the public, as well as to adapt to the development of maternal and child health care work in the future.
Haikou Maternal and Child Health Hospital's 3A-grade rating exemplifies the improvements in Haikou's medical and health system.
Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital was founded in 1952. Since 2017, it has been fully managed by Shanghai Children's Medical Center affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University's School of Medicine, and its full name is Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Shanghai Children's Medical Center. After receiving its 3A-grade rating, it became the first 3A-grade public maternal and child hospital in south Hainan.
