China is expanding its efforts to develop the southern Hainan island into a globally significant free trade port by creating an enabling business climate and facilitating investment.
Hong Kong Airlines Flight HX169 arrived at Sanya Phoenix International Airport in Hainan province at noon on Nov 24 carrying more than 15 metric tons of duty-free cosmetics eagerly anticipated by tourists on the tropical island.
The government of Hainan, the southern island province of China, moved a step forward by unveiling a new guideline to widen market access and lower barriers to trade, investment and cross-border capital flows with the goal of building the island into a high-quality free trade port.
